Carolyn Kelley Klinger is an independent consultant and has been a technical writer since 1995. She has volunteered for the Society of Technical Communication since 1998 She is a past president of the Society for Technical Communication, Washington, DC Chapter (STC WDC), and currently manages the chapter’s events, webinars, discussion lists, and competition PR. She also serves on the nominating committee of the chapter’s parent organization, the Society for Technical Communication, a professional association with 13,000 members worldwide, founded in 1953 and headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia.
Carolyn has a Master’s degree in Geography, and specializes in developing online help for web-based software applications. Her clients include the National Cancer Institute and several small private companies.
STC WDC, as it is known, has over 400 members and was founded in 1955. It holds professional education events and an annual competition for technical communication. The organization is also well known for its comprehensive and accessible website, http://www.stcwdc.org.
